PART A: GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR GRANT SUBMISSION
INTRODUCTION
The Win the Day Organisation is a public, non-profit organisation established primarily to financially support families with accommodation, meal assistance and one-off treatment grants, as well as to raise awareness and support the funding of research related to rare childhood cancers.
You can find more information about our organisation and our story at www.wintheday.org.au
AIM AND AVAILABLE FUNDING
The aim of the Win the Day Rebuild Grant, is to support families fighting childhood cancers with:
·        Experiences to reconnect as a family
·        Education assistance; providing help in transitioning their child back to the classroom and school
·        A one-off payment of $10000 for Celebration of Life costs
·        Referral and payment provided for carers to rebuild their career
·        10 x free counselling session for the family

Our available funding and experiences rely on the generosity of our supporters, sponsors and donations. If funds have been exhausted, families will be placed on a waiting list for up to 6 months upon receiving their application. After 6 months, the Win the Day Funding Committee will make contact to see if you would like to stay on the waiting list.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Only families that meet all of the following eligibility requirements may apply:

-      Lives in the ACT or NSW area
-      You have a support letter from your Social Worker, practicing Oncology Doctor or General Practitioner (please see Supporting Evidence section below for requirements).

In addition:
-      The one-off payment for Celebration of Life costs is specifically to support those families that have had a recent loss of their child to cancer (within the past month) and would need to provide either a certificate of death or a letter of support from their social worker supporting the families' circumstances. More recently, any family that has lost their child, will also receive a $2000 rebuild grant amount to help them find their feet again.
- In the circumstance of a family relapsing, they are able to reapply for a second rebuild grant if they have applied previously and been supported through this grant.

FURTHER INFORMATION ON EACH GRANT TYPE
Experiences to Rebuild as a Family

Families will be supported with multiple vouchers to rebuild and reconnect as a family. This package varies between $860-1135 a grant and includes experiences such as:
-          An annual family zoo pass to either Taronga Zoo or National Zoo in Canberra
-          Family pass to the movies valued at $100
-         A Big 4 experience voucher valued at $250

Education Assistance
Returning to school can be daunting to not only the child and family but to the school as well. Managing the health and the safety of the child becomes paramount, in addition to ensuring they feel comfortable to take on learning tasks. To ensure the smoothest transition back to school, our educational experts will connect the family with suggestions, resources and strategies to ensure school becomes a success.

Celebration of Life Costs
No one ever wants to say goodbye to their child in the unfortunate case they lost their battle with cancer, but if they do, Win the Day Charity wants to alleviate the financial stress of funeral costs. Win the Day Charity will provide a one-off payment of $10,000 that goes towards farewelling your child in a perfect way. This can also be used for a celebration Mould casting, as a lasting memory of their child.
Once paperwork has been approved, Win the Day Charity will also deposit $2000 into the mourning families account to help them find their feet whilst rebuilding as a family.
In order to receive this payment, evidence such as a Certificate of Death would need to be provided. Funding will be provided up to a month after the passing of the child.

Carers Careers Assistance
Most carers either lose their job or outgrow their profession after tackling the oncology experience with their child. In the instance this has occurred, Win the Day Charity will refer you to a service that can assist developing your resume and selection criteria, as well as provide career and interview coaching free of charge.

Wellbeing - 10 free Counselling Sessions
This grant allows any family member to check in with a registered psychologist and prioritise your own wellbeing with an expert. The sessions will be done in the comfort of your own home and virtually.
